About me

I'm James. About a year into building an AI consulting practice in Calgary, after spending most of my career in federal policy.

My background is in policy and international relations. Before going independent, I worked as a policy analyst at the federal government, where I got pulled into the work of actually rolling out generative AI inside a large organization. That experience taught me a lot — most importantly, the gap between a demo that wows leadership and a tool the people on the floor actually use.

It also convinced me that the organizations and individuals without enterprise budgets are often the ones who stand to benefit most from getting AI right — and the most at risk of being left behind if they don't. That conviction shapes most of what I do now.
